Our Favourite Sunsets from all Coastal Corners of Skye, Lochalsh and Raasay, by Alan Campbell of Woodrising Gallery
As the sun enters the Autumn horizon we remeber the challenge being conquered on the 4th September 2013 to fill the missing famous sunset gap. Do you remember? For more details check out image number 5 'AT LAST A WINNER.
As we approach midsummer our fascination with sunsets heightens as the colours on the western horizon deepen to a fiery blaze. Skye, however, in the centre of the Hebridean archipelago enjoys exceptional sunsets all year round, where its glorious coastal light and transient weather patterns provide endless opportunities over land, sea and mountain for the keen photographer. Whichever corner of Skye and Lochalsh you may choose to explore, an evening sunset may suddenly demand its capture. Setting over the south-westerly horizon in winter’s late afternoon, the summer’s sun sets much later on the northern horizon. Alan Campbell at Woodrising Gallery has clearly mastered Skye’s coastal sunsets with this awe-inspiring collection and detailed information is available about where and when the image was taken by clicking each image. Alan’s highly professional online gallery and welcoming island shop, with many more images besides, are both well worth a visit and will surely tempt a purchase! BUT we’d like to THROW DOWN A CHALLENGE to Alan or YOU! Can you ‘fill the missing image’ in this Coastal Collection, of the allegedly ‘most photographed sunset view in Europe’; the Outer Hebrides from Wonderful Waternish! A big challenge – THERE IS A PRIZE, maybe you’ll have that lucky opportunity!
