Knock Castle (‘Caisteal Camus’) is a Late Medieval (12th – 16th C AD) ruined castle. It dates from the 14th century and was originally owned by the MacLeods. In the late 14th century it was taken by force by the MacDonalds, then the LacLeod’s layed siege to it again in the 15th century. ‘Mary of the Castle’, a MacDOnald heroine inspired the defenders of the castle to a famous victory. |
