'The Wilders' - Country Music
Description:  They’ve been dubbed ‘The Hillbilly Hurricane’ as they keep on blowing people away! Playing storming roots-of-country and old-time with an essence of early rockabilly attitude, they deliver a blistering fiddle/banjo/guitar/dobro/slap bass hoedown, playing music that’s infectious and smile-inducing. ‘The Wilders’, from Kansas City, Missouri, are festival favourites on both sides of the Atlantic and these days have a bigger following in the UK than on their home turf. They managed two sell-out runs at The Famous Spiegeltent during Edinburgh Festival Fringe when they carried off a Herald Angel for their outstanding contribution to the event and headline shows at festivals such as Celtic Connections (filmed in front of 1500 adoring fans by BBC 2) and HebCeltFest, which was also televised. Since their first appearance here, they have returned each year and won a reputation as one of the most highly charged and entertaining acts on the circuit. Their latest album (their fourth), ‘Someone’s Got To Pay’, carried them to the finals of the annual Independent Music Awards in America and went on to win Alt-Country Album of The Year category. Last time the four-piece toured here, the ‘Sold Out’ signs went up everywhere they went. The Scotsman told readers: “They generate the kind of tunes that should by rights leave vapour trails” This band is not to be missed! Early booking highly recommended. Tickets £12, £10 and £6 under 16
